October 18–24, 2026 | Animal Works, Fort Collins, Colorado
Every happy tail wag, every comforting purr, and every pet who receives the care they need has something in common: dedicated people working behind the scenes to make it happen.
This October 18–24, we’re celebrating National Veterinary Technician Week, a special time to recognize the hardworking, compassionate veterinary professionals who dedicate their days to helping animals live healthier, happier lives.
At Animal Works, we know that caring for animals takes more than medical knowledge. It takes patience, kindness, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart. And that’s exactly what our veterinary team brings to work every day. ❤️
🩺 More Than Just Helping the Veterinarian
When most people think about a veterinary visit, they picture the veterinarian examining their pet. But there’s an entire team of skilled professionals helping make that care possible.
Veterinary technicians play an essential role in animal healthcare, often performing tasks that pet owners never get to see.
Depending on their training, credentials, and responsibilities, veterinary technicians may assist with:
- Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring anesthesia.
- Checking vital signs and monitoring patients during recovery.
- Administering medications and treatments under veterinary supervision.
- Collecting laboratory samples and assisting with diagnostic testing.
- Providing nursing care and helping keep patients comfortable.
- Educating pet owners about preventive care and recovery instructions.
- Offering reassurance to nervous animals and their worried humans.
It’s a job that requires technical skills, careful attention to detail, and a genuine love for animals.
And sometimes, it means offering a gentle touch or a few extra moments of comfort to a frightened pet who doesn’t understand why they’re at the clinic.
Those little moments matter more than most people realize.
❤️ The Compassion You Don’t Always See
Veterinary medicine isn’t always filled with wagging tails and happy puppy kisses.
Some days are physically demanding. Others are emotionally difficult. Veterinary teams work with nervous pets, concerned owners, unexpected challenges, and animals who need extra attention and patience.
They may spend hours on their feet, carefully monitoring patients, cleaning and preparing equipment, assisting with procedures, and making sure each animal receives the attention it deserves.
And through it all, they continue showing up with compassion.
At Animal Works, we see the difference that kindness makes, whether it’s comforting a dog before surgery, keeping a recovering cat warm and comfortable, or helping a pet parent feel more confident about their animal’s care.
Because behind every procedure is a living, breathing animal who deserves to be treated with dignity, patience, and love.
🐶 Supporting Healthier Pets in Northern Colorado
At Animal Works, our mission is rooted in helping make essential veterinary surgical care more accessible to the pets and families of our community.
From spay and neuter services to affordable vaccinations, our team works to support responsible pet ownership and healthier animals throughout Northern Colorado and beyond.
We understand that pets are family, and we also know that the cost of veterinary care can sometimes be a challenge.
That’s why we’re proud to offer affordable vaccinations with no office fee, helping families keep their pets protected without the added expense of a traditional office visit.
Our veterinary professionals are an important part of making these services possible. Their dedication, teamwork, and attention to detail help us provide the care our community depends on.
Every animal that comes through our doors matters, and so do the people who care for them.
🐾 Small Acts of Kindness Make a Big Difference
Ask anyone who works with animals, and they’ll probably tell you that some of the most meaningful moments aren’t the big ones.
It’s the nervous dog who finally relaxes after a little reassurance.
The frightened cat who settles into a warm blanket.
The pet parent who arrives worried and leaves feeling relieved.
Or the moment a recovering patient is ready to go home to the family who loves them.
These moments may seem small, but they’re a big part of what makes veterinary medicine so special.
Our veterinary team doesn’t just help care for animals. They help create a more compassionate experience for the pets and people who trust us.
And that is something worth celebrating.
